Property Tax Freeze

SCOPE strongly opposes a property tax freeze.

• Property taxes are the most reliable and predictable source of revenue for our school districts

• School district revenue must keep up with the rate of inflation as it relates to cost of operations; goods, services, payroll, benefits, etc.

• An immediate effective date does not allow school districts adequate time to prepare. School districts are in the midst of multi-year contracts that stipulate increases aligned with the Consumer Price Index (CPI) .
